Okay, so among the many magazines I receive thanks to my USAir miles, is Elle, a fashion mag a la Vogue. But the fun part: Elle features not only a monthly horoscope, but a numerology page. Like most of us, I accept these insights when I like 'em, and reject 'em the rest of the time. February's rocks:
"You've sacrificed a great deal in order to transform a nascent idea into a success-in-the-making. Luckily, you begin to enjoy the hint of approaching victory. Each close encounter with the sweet smell of success pushes you to try harder and do more. No wonder your colleagues depend on you."
Close encounters this week:
1. A successful technical rehearsal (not final dress) of my job talk, to be delivered at a campus visit this week.
2. Assembling a checklist of tasks to be completed in order to graduate in May.
3. Completing the first of those tasks: filling out the "Diploma Request" form.

dude, why o why didn't somebody tell me all you had to do was fill out a REQUEST form!?!? :)
I love that you have to fill out the request form before they determine you can actually *have* one...methinks the form has the wrong name. It should be the "Let's Get This Ball Rolling" form.
I want to hear all about your interviews/job talks/shoe buying escapades (not right before the job talk, I hope), when they are over and you are relaxed again. In the meantime, good luck!
And congrats on the "diploma request" form. The bane of my existence was the dissertation editor, so good luck with that too!
Oh, I like this horoscope very much, and I'm all for close encounters with "sweet" success. Go forth, be yourself, and don't forget that you're interviewing them, too (and you're so good at asking people questions that get to the heart of things).
Cheers, dear!
