SMART goals

So, the life coach I've been working with mentioned this in our first session, but I didn't write it down, so couldn't remember what the acronym stood for. Fortunately, the folks at DIYPlanner.com have repeated it for me (cause I often need to hear things more than once):

S: Specific
M: Measurable
A: Achievable
R: Realistic
T: Time-Sensitive

Of course, I'm not always so good at determining whether something is, in fact, achievable or realistic, but there you go.

Here's my personal version of the acronym.

Specious
Murky
Ambiguous
Redundant
Torturous

This pretty much sums up what my dissertation feels like to me right now.

Or how about

Speculative
Martians
Are
Really
Tedious

This is how I feel about the beginning of the semester. Why are there no Martians in my classes?
