Because I'm such a proud alum...

From the Whitman College website...

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Published accounts of how well colleges and universities stack up against their peers are in no short supply, and Whitman College is getting kudos at every turn this summer. The surveys themselves are receiving media attention, including a recent segment on the "Today" show. Whitman’s inclusion in The Princeton Review’s ranking of "The Best 361 Colleges" was mentioned, specifically that the college ranks second (just behind Stanford and ahead of Brown) in the category of "Happiest Students."

From the Princeton Review:

Happiest Students (2nd)
School Runs Like Butter" (2nd)
Everyone Plays Intramural Sports (3rd)
Best College
Library (5th)
Best Quality of Life (5th)
Dorms like Palaces (10th)
Best College Theatre (10th)
Lots of Race/Class Interaction (12th)
Best College
Radio Station (13th)
Best Overall Academic Experience For Undergraduates (15th)
Their Students Never Stop Studying (20)

Okay, so the dorms were hardly palace-like when I was there, but definitely an amazing theatre program (that's Harper Joy Theatre in the photo), and we studied A LOT. And I played IM basketball badly.

That sounds like a pretty damn fine college, even though its dorms are palatial.
