1. Ate breakfast (two eggs over easy plus two pieces of toast)
2. Played on the computer
3. Went for a nice long power walk
4. Showered and listened to NPR
5. Went to the library and returned to the Pulitzer-prize-winning novel I should* be reading in order to check out a new chick-lit-esque novel by a former classmate.
6. Visited Target, my home-away-from-home, to pick up prescriptions, yard sale signage materials, and buy a new pair of shorts. (Okay, the last one wasn't essential, but I look damn cute in 'em.)
7. Shopped for groceries--stuff to whet my appetite. Like chips and dip. (I had 'em with a salad, so back off!)
8. Ate lunch and began reading said novel.
7. Emailed my fall textbook orders.
9. Spoke to my presumptive future landlord about my presumptive new home up North.
10. Played on the computer
11. Got my ass away from the computer to work on academic writerly crap.
*Note: I have decided to avoid the word "should" as much as possible from now on. I often do what I want to anywho, so why am I wasting time feeling guilty about what I should be doing?

Okay, so this is weird
I have to say, this is the first time I've ever had to deal with this particular problem: I have to eat.
Yes, folks, I've lost a bit too much weight. It's a combination of the antidepressant I take (generic Wellbutrin) and recent anxiety (mega-transition-time!). Now, at other times in my life--most times in my life--this would have been a lovely side effect of a challenging period. But nooooo....I actually have to worry about being too skinny. (I know my middle sister hears this one--it's all fun and games til your favorite jeans slide off your hips!)
So, I headed off to the grocery store to stock up on lots of tasty goodness. Cookies. Chips & salsa & sour cream. Beer (love those little Coronitas--so cute). Ben & Jerry's (I even had a coupon).
Any moment now I'll be filling out my new Levis again. And someday, I will look back fondly on this time, as my geriatrician reminds me that ice cream is not, in fact, one of the major food groups. Tee hee.

Yummers
I meant to post this last Sunday--my breakfast of fabulous scones and spice tea! Tasty and nostalgic, too. You see, every year at the big county and state fairs, we'd line up outside the Fisher booth to buy hot scones with butter and jam. (Okay, I don't know if we did it every time, but I do remember having scones at least once!)
And special thanks to Mr. Brother in Law for the Market Spice Tea. More nostalgia: this was my major source of caffeine before I discovered espresso. It's strong and clove-y and if you drink too much your tongue goes numb. I highly recommend it.

Today, I...
...am eating a caesar salad with my fingers, because I forgot to bring a fork and I'm too chicken to beg the folks in the HR office (the principal occupants of the building my office is in) if I can borrow one. (And it's really hard to get all the cheese shreds and bacon bits up, so I have my office door closed. No one needs to see this.)
... am annoyed with students who can't focus for even ten minutes on the work at hand. Even after I give a little spiel at the beginning about how it's going to be a short class and all I'm asking for is 30 minutes of work. Of course, I explicitly reminded them not to have any programs open on their computers that were not directly related to class, and that the only excuse for having a cell phone on and/or out in the open is that they're on a transplant waiting list. So, I didn't see any of that, but did see a few reviewing their calendars rather than doing a measly few minutes of freewriting. Grrrrr.
... am really cold. Why is there no heat in this office? (Which is why my door is usually open...)
... am feeling guilty about drinking a 13-ounce bottle of Starbucks mocha pseudoFrappucino. All 300 calories of it. Yikes.
