because i love knowledge, books, and the word "palimpsest"

Ever since I learned what "palimpsest" means, I've yearned to use it. It's just one of those yummy words that really expresses the concept. (Of course, it could also be a dessert topping...or a floor wax...) Anyway, lucky for me, I use the word as a key analytical term in chapter three of The Dissertation, so I get to type it a lot!

Here, though, are folks working with palimpsests in the more literal sense: The Archimedes Palimpsest Project. There was a story on it on NPR today, and it sounds so amazing. Bringing together science and history and mysteries and all the good stuff.
