I offered Maddie a ride in the car (okay, we were just moving the car to the other side of the street before going on our walk), and as she clambered in, I noticed a nasty red raw spot on her right hip. I swear it wasn't there earlier today! It certainly wasn't there last night at 10:30, because I remember she was itchy so I grabbed the brush and gave her a few good strokes. She's never gotten one *there* before--always on her inner thigh, or her neck, not there!
*sigh* We're off to the vet tomorrow, I guess--the season starts earlier every year. It may be time for (gasp) special diet.

Let your sister-who-has-worked-at-a-vet-cinic-for-over-twenty-years set your mind at ease...
Dogs can create a hot spot in less than 10 minutes. Trust me. I've seen it done first hand. On one of my own dogs. In front of a puppy buyer who asked if my dogs had skin problems. And I said no. As Karbon sat on the couch and chewed a big ol' nasty hot spot on his butt in less than 10 minutes. Need I say more?
