Hawk sighting
Well, it probably saw us, too! While walking Maddie this morning, I glimpsed the unmistakable circling pattern of a hawk above our neighborhood. It was probably a red-tailed hawk, which apparently tolerate urban living quite well. It circled above us for a while, before circling higher and to the south, where perhaps the European sparrows weren't hiding so effectively...

Do urban redtails get the white winter plumage that their rural kindred do?
I'm not sure...we'll have to do a winter birding expedition in Central Park to check 'em out...
