A certain prestigious university recently interviewed me for a job, and today I received a generous and personal letter declining to invite me to their campus for further interviews. I had expected such a rejection, but not such a--dare I say--complimentary one! Frankly, it was such a large school that I don't think I would have felt at home there, except that I have great admiration for the faculty.
Ultimately, I was eliminated because I'm not in a position to advance rapidly enough to tenure. But that's okay--I'll find a better home.

well pooh pooh on them. they don't know what they're missing. Pshaw
Yes, but at least they have class. Rejection letters of all stripes suck, but SOME universities have the brains to realize that in the search process they're selling themselves, even to the people they don't hire. Good for Presigious University!
Good for us to realize their nicey nicey pooh pooh letter is all a sham & all about their own image--make them oh so sorry with your 10th publication next year Tuba!
